Would you or someone you know benefit from support by this charity?

Meliora’s Cottage in Aisby was built to commemorate the memory of Meliora Adlercron (1911-1930), daughter of General R L Adlercron of Culverthorpe Hall. Meliora died following a car crash near Colsterworth at just 19 years of age and is buried in Heydour Churchyard.

The cottage was built as a Nursing Home but was no longer needed as such when the National Health Service was established. When the cottage was sold some years later, the proceeds were invested and a Trust set up to distribute the interest on those funds. Those monies are used “to relieve in cases of need, persons resident in the area of the said parishes of Heydour, Culverthorpe with Kelby and Welby who are sick, convalescent, disabled, handicapped or infirm”.

The money, available to all parishioners of the above villages, is to assist anyone who would benefit from goods or services not readily available from other sources and which they would otherwise find difficult to fund. Note that this can extend beyond medical services to items such as equipment, transport, home services or activities that would bring wellbeing, alleviate suffering or assist in recovery.
